unfortunately.

good luck to you el. cuz there wasnt a job i've had where there wasnt at least one bad apple to spoil the bunch.

she's right some people are just not self starters. with that being said those individuals should have been counseled on their lack of performance and fired if desired results weren't achieved. if you feel you are being discriminated you need get proof and report it. keep a log book of some sort.

also it sounds like she is a mico manager. I say pull her to the side and tell her how you feel. there is always reasoning behind when a supervisor wants something done a certain way. for example safety. don't be disrespectful just tell her how you feel. also if you have an issue have a way to solve it. nothing pisses me off more than when someone has an issue but has no solution for it. so basically all they do is b*tch......well GL and I hope everything works out

Kekeke you called her a "micro manager" +40 for that joke. On a serious note though, everybody has to do a certain job depending on what the "manpower" dictates. We as ramp workers work under a ramp lead and they work under the supervisor. It is up to the ramp lead to utilize his workers properly, not the job of the supervisor. Of course if they see that something jeopardizes safety and the aircraft, they have the authority to step in and correct/discipline the individual. But this one particular supe just runs the show completely. It just irritates the hell out of me because we get confused on who's orders to take. I have met with the general manager, human resources, and our ramp manager on this subject before and offered couple solutions to this problem. Problem is that the supe in question is totally opposed to change. When I try to talk to her, but the out come is always, "well you know Al", "well that's different", or she just completely lies about it. Now I dont even bother with it.

your right sometimes it is hard when you have more chiefs than indians. in my Commo shop I am at the top with 3 team leaders directly working for me and each of them have about 3 or 4 soldiers each. as the NCOIC of the shop I manage the shop as a whole and delegate/empower my SGT's on the daily tasks at hand. i will admit I have in the past have gone straight to the jr soldiers and told them how i would like a specific task done and usually my SGT's will ask me to step aside and let them handle it.

I know you may not see it the same way, but i miss the military ways sometimes. Respect is given by rank, not necessarily earned. Jess, I don't mean you, i mean saluting rank, and not the person. We used to see an officer carrying a load of junk, and stood and made him salute, he 'd get pissed, drop all his stuff, and return the gesture. I did this as an enlisted though. I learned after that, when people did that to me. Ahh good times.....

working with family is the worst. they expect so much more cause if you let them down its hurts their pride. thats why i work in a different trade from my dad (he's a union HVAC tech).

i work for american electric right now as an apprentice electrian. i got one more year till i get my license. when i first started i used to get the screams but now i give the screams cause i run jobs.

theres always gonna be people that give you a hard time. just remember you picked your job and you can always quit.
