Question.. PCS'ing to Hawaii in April
Question.. PCS'ing to Hawaii in April
I'll be PCS'ing to Hawaii mid April 2012. I don't know if I can get away with it in Hawaii, which is why I'm here to ask... My car is currently registered and plated for Indiana, as long as I keep my license current and tags up to date, do I have to register/plate it for Hawaii?
The reason I ask is because one, its a PITA to do the DMV **** over and over and over and two, I've never had a problem doing that when I was stationed in Kansas, FL, ect.. and three, I really don't want 2 license plates. lol

You have the choice to do either. I know there is some piece of paper ya gotta get from your admin that has to do with car registration or outta state registration. I cannot remember what it was called (PCS'd here last feb). As far a updating everything each year i am not sure how you go about doing that. Honestly if you pass safety then registration is easy as ****. I did mine in the mall. There are "satellite" facilities everywhere
I was going to renew my license while I'm home on leave before PCS'ing. I can renew my registration and plates online with Indiana's DMV and they'll mail everything to me. Now if I do that, would I still have to rock a damn "recon" sticker? The biggest reason I like to keep everything in Indiana is because it's already done to start with, and they don't give a **** what you change and don't test emissions. I know for a fact this car will fail emissions if anyone tested it.
I wish Hawaii had e85! I've got 2 tunes for it. One for e85 (makes around 510whp) and 91oct (downgrading to 440'ish whp)

Honestly i dont know much about the recon info. I know a bit back we all did a E85 fo hawaii petition. Well see how that pans out. There is E85 on island but the only place I know of is the marine base and its for duty cars only (one of those pumps you have to use the special duty car credit card)

1. you need to obtain a non-resident form from your chain of command to register so you don't pay the county and state taxes.
2. you can keep your Indiana plates and they will issue you this nice big blue sticker to rock on your bumper.
3. yes you will need to conform to recon standards regardless of what state you bring your vehicle from.
hope this helps
