question (exhaust related)
howzit...i just picked up a 11 wrx...and have had it for a couple weeks... just bought a bunch of stuff for it but still waiting for things to start flowing in (fogs, sti exhaust finishers, wet okoles, kartboy short shifter and appropriate bushings, tint, shades, sti mirror cap with signals...accessport with perrin maps)
ok...on the the question side of this thread...i picked this car up with 12 miles on the odo...today while getting ready to wash my car...i parked it and stepped back and noticed some discoloration from the exhaust piping...being niele i wondered what it was so i went to look and noticed that my exhaust system from catback is RUSTED TO SHIRT...i mean its ugly...are subarus famous for rusted stock exhaust systems?? i mean this car barely has 200 miles on it...how could it get rusty so quick?? i know the easy way would be to just upgrade the exhaust but thats besides the point...i wanted to stick with my stock exhaust for as long as possible...any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance

Take it back to dealership and let them know. If they don't do anything. Take it back, drop the exhaust, sand the rust of and hit it w/ some vht high temp paint. Would be easier to bring it to a media blaster or if you had one but sanding will suffice.

first and foremost we live on an ISLAND. The salt air is quite bad here. Depending on where you live and where you drive will determine how quickly it discolors. It's only surface rust so I wouldn't be too concerned. You could also have it coated or painted so that it doesn't continue to rust.
thanks for the reply guys...i know what you mean about the salt water breezes and what not...but to be truthful this is the first car i had that it stood out like a sore thumb...i came from an xrunner and still have a 08 4runner (both purchased from new) and never ran into an issue like this...which is why i was asking if subarus are known to have an issue like this...
tomorrow im gonna go down to the dealership and see if anything can be done about it...if not then i guess im gonna pull it off, prep, then spray it with some high heat spray (advice taken
)
on a side note...anyone running nameless' exhaust setup for 5dr?? i was watching a few clips and i really like how this one sounds...i might be inclined to buy if i hear some positive feedback
...anyways thanks again for the advice...i really appreciate it
