question??

I have a 02 wrx transmission question.. yesterday I was just driving to walmart (5 min) away and halfway there a clunk in gear just started happening. Each gear does it. N also when on neautral.

Since every gear does it I would have to guess a lose rear diff carrier or bushing.

I had the same thing happen, and that was exactly what it was.

@krang did your car make a clunk right when you start it on neautral? Cause when I depress the clutch the clunk goes away?

Clunk in each gear, more noticeable when starting in 1st. It's the transmission driveline tightening up when you change gears causing the loose bushings on the rear of the differential and the differential outrigger bushings to move slightly.

Very common problem with subarus, TurnInConcepts even makes a bushing package called clunk killer to replace the needed bushings.

@krang I installed the diff bushing n the kartboy outrigger bushing n the clunk I'd still at its prime. I'm thinking it's a loose bearing.
