My personal oppinion on tuning is that of a conservative level. I believe that you should change the uppipe and add a turboback exhaust as well as get a remapped FACTORY ECU because that is the safest way to go with engine management. You can change the intake and/or turbo and all with upgraded fuel pumps and injectors, but one must remember that we have an open deck engine and only a certain power level can be safely reached before you risk damage to the pistons and detonation. I would say on a stock turbo if you have freed up all available intake and exhaust areas to make everything free flowing as possible in nature you could run an absolute maximum of 17psi if you have an upgraded intercooler and 16psi on the stock one. The maximum horsepower that can be safely achieved in my oppinion is approximately 325 to the wheels. Anything above that and we risk harming the engine and/or tranny. If you have an automatic you only risk harming the engine at that power level because the auto tranny without any modification can hold 500whp.

Mike Shields has been part of the Subaru Community from the get go and was the only vendor it seemed like for performance parts back in 98 or so when I wanted an 2.5RS. He is a wealth of knowledge if you can talk to him.
