Progress? (10 large photographs inside)

I'm between a rock and a hard place. But I'm in exceptional company who have 3 bazillion times the amount of knowledge and experience than I do.

One thing that the pics don't show is that we've mounted the intercooler and have cut the bumper (thanks Sean).

We even got so stumped that we had to enlist the help of a professional (thanks Caroline)

Bottom line, we're ~1/2 or a little bit more complete. We got STOPPED by an obstacle but can't really turn back (and we were making such good progress and getting work done pretty quickly, too). FWIW, we believe that we need to get the cam sprockets off in order to remove the cams and accesories in order to remove the head bolts to put it onto the new block. The cam sprockets won't move. We've tried impact and ***, we don't have enough of either. Can't, and don't want to put the 2.0 back together as an option if we can't get these hell forsaken cam sprockets off.

...everything else seems to be going fine.

Car Info: 2004 Subaru STI/WRX Silver of course
If this sounds dumb let em know but in order to take the head off the cams have to be removed can't you just take the cams out by removing the keepers and leave the gear on all the cars I've seen you can do it that way they are DOHC engines??? Or is Subaru the one company that is different if so I'm not surprised. I'm just trying to get a understanding as to what you are saying....What time you going to start tommrow....

Part of my problem is time. If we don't get it off tomorrow, I might be a little screwed.

Exclamation J

The reason why we can't remove the cam gears w/ the cams still attached is because of 1 stupid short bolt beind each cam. But tommorrow will be a new day w/ a new found energy for some. Tommorrow Pat will have a 2.5 short block installed wooohooo
