Um...not unless they are using it on their cars.

2004 STi's are becoming renoun for the power steering pumps going bad at around 50k miles...I know...I just replaced mine a month ago. If you haven't changed yours yet, you will.

Your best bet would be to contact Servco, but the pump costs about $500 brand new. You can check out eBay or on the other forums. If you want, you can PM me and I might be able to save you a little bit.

thats funny cause it seemed like for a day or two that mine was going out but then i jacked my car up and had the car off then i bled it correctly (car jacked up filler cap open filled to cold line turning wheeel back and forth real slow like for about five minutes maybe 20 turns either way put my cap back on,,,,,,,,make sure you check fluid level while bleeding so you dont run dry....turned my car on went all the way back and forth twice put it back down on the ground and perfection!!) didnt even have to replace the pump......learned that from an old school mechanic..... he told me if there is no leaks in the pump nine out of ten times its just air in the line either from a cracked line or from really aggressive cornering at speed and that your pump doesnt need to be replaced........ im sure once a few fins go on your pump its toast but sometimes like in my case its always good to try the cheap alternative first.....

i am a noob pretty much anyways (to subarus) but as you know water boxer vw engines are close to the same thing and im definately not a noob in that department and have saved a few people some big money with power steering probs by just bleeding correctly and changing high pressure lines instead of having them replace a costly pump......now on the other hand ive been having power steering probs with my toyota truck for a month.. replaced the box..pump..high pressure line....and aghhhhh no luck.. now going backwards im gonna replace the reservoir and hope for the best if it dont work im gonna drive it off a cliff hahahaha nah but go figure huh???
