seen WRXGRL today parked outside of Eurosport...followed her a little while before she took off, got no love lol...seen a silver STi shortly afterwards eva bound on nimitz hwy...both around 2:00pm

black bugeye Friday night at Aiea shopping center. gave me a honk but I was talking to my friend... too late... so here's your shaka!

 

seen a bew outback with a prodrive exhaust on keeaumoku st. tonite. he was next to me at a traffic light, got wtf look since he caught me looking at his ride. oh well

 

my friends just came over to my house. one of them just got the first 06 STi on this island. it's black on gold. he just wants to rack up miles so he can start racing it.

^^he wants to break a thousand and do an oil change before going tracks. oh and for the record, he got it for msrp and not a penny more. i think that's 33k.

 

he should wait till 1500miles

 

From what I have heard, most of the 'breaking in' happens in the first 20 or so miles. One MAJOR reason I would not buy a test driven car. Also, don't forget to reset the ECU after break-in because you have just spent 1000 miles showing your car you want to drive like my grams... Also helps to run a Subaru Top End cleaner or Seafoam thru... I had some good detonation after break-in and used this stuff, it went away.

 

whats funny is that i have heard 20 different things from 20(seems a little low) to 1500 miles. who really knows for sure? i mean for all we know it could be 1136 miles and your car is perfectly broken in. IMHO it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd rather wait the extra 500 miles to have no dought that i broke it in, then find out later that it was too early. oh and seen jon, rudy, nevin(sp?), and lee at the tracks on fri night. also some other people i can't remember their names.

 

Yeah for sure - me too, though I have heard as low as the first 10 minutes of engine run time. I have a friend who explained the whole ring seating process and it made sense that a LOT happens in the first few miles of running. But there's got to be someone that knows!! I babied my WRX for 1200 miles and I generally am pretty careful with my cars. I figure it's better to err on the side of careful, but was just mentioning I have heard both sides of this story. Again, someone has gotta know..
