Please chime in here
Please chime into this thread with your opinion...
I'm not going to tell you just yet who is interested. But lets say that it's not just idle an discussion.
The person in question is really sharp and has quite a bit of knowledge. Of course he wouldn't do this alone and would get more help if needed.
You think Farid would partner into this?
So here it goes... I have a friend that is interested in opening a tuning shop in Hawaii. Location is undecided, so are the services being offered.
But the main point to get across is that it's going to be a tuning shop with an AWD dyno. It is not going to limited to SDS and Autronic, which is what gets pushed the most in Hawaii by the sole two tuners that most people use. The plan is to be an end all shop for your tuning needs.
As for installations, it would be an option, but it would be for the parts on hand that are to be tested. You probably wouldn't see an engine swap happen in the shop, but you would have exhaust installs, cam gear installs, ECU installs, turbo installs, etc. There would be an extra bay or two with a lift on hand.
Of course dyno time can be rented, there will be wideband A/F capabilities, and as an option tuning capabilities by one of the in house tuners.
All of this if there were a lot of interest would happen in less then a year. Perhaps less then 9 months to be more specific.
Please chime in and tell me what you would like to have in terms of features, what brands in EM is most popular, what do you think makes a good shop, etc. If you have friends with AWD cars like Subaru owners, Audi owners, DSM guys... Tell them and have them chime in here as well. Of course tuning a 2WD is no problem as well.
All of your info and suggestions will be sent to my buddy who will then make it happen if there is enough interest.
Thanks

I'd love for the shop to open, but I don't think the business will support itself on dyno/tuning alone...

How does Naka's or BSM get by? Of course they also do installations and have mechanics on hand... But other then that, they aren't too different right?
Well eitherway, forget the money aspect. It's not important. Just what you would like to see and/or have.

well, That would be mighty nice! I think Farid may be interested, he has contimplated the idea, ... it's just the cost thing.
Is this shop just going to be for tuning? Or is it going to be an install/everything shop as well?

Well if it were based out of vegas, a brothell would be built upstairs and while waiting for your car to be tuned, you could get some umm *extra servicing done*

Perhaps the New Yorker would like to open another location
Just kidding.But what features would attract YOU or anyone else for that matter to a particular shop.
- Parts In Stock
- the brothell upstairs idea!!!!! for sure!!! at least a massage chair!
- Ability to tune what they sell (obviously in this case), as in different EMSs'
- Open mindedness
- QUALITY of work (I have TOO many issues with places here ..... )
- Willingness to try 'new' things
- ABILITY to do 'new' things
- Parts in stock (I said that, huh?
)
- Sells 'replacement' parts, fluids, misellaneous install-type-parts (like Autobacs has!
)
- KNOWLEDGEABLE Staff (I don't want to hear that an EJ20 head can't bolt on to an EJ25 block!!!)
.. list more later ...

I'll buy as much stock in it as I could afford. I might even take out a loan. I think I'd give him as much as $200 to get that project off of the ground.

Shop
I agree with Sean, if your going to talk the talk and walk the walk then better be able to back it up. Nobody wants another Wheres My Refund shop (although I have had no problems with them others have).Isn't this the kind of shop Farid is trying or has going now just no dyno.

Also to become an authorized dealer for some things requires you to move so much a month/quarter. Most if not all of the other things can easily be done though.I'm sure we can keep a bottle or two of boost fluid if you need some
