Yeah the 200L goes from 700-800~ depending how lucky you are with the market prices. The f/2.8 may be a turnoff for most people looking for a prime, but it's a very excellent lens. Completely different animal from the 85L though since the 85L is slow but absorbs light like a black hole, compared to the 200L which is fast, not as great low light, but sharp as hell.

The difference between the 70-200 f/4L and the 200L primes are kinda big. If you can live with primes, it is a no contest.

nice shots...those are dirty? hehehe

The 85L will train you and correct your technique.. it's pretty unforgiving. there is a significant difference between the 70-200 f2.8 or f4 and the 200L though... I'm more partial to the 135L f2 though.

we should play the ABC photo game in here... You start by posting a photo of something and titling in two words. The next photo that someone else posts will have to start with the letter of the second word. for example... the cat photo would be Simon the Cat. So the next person would have to post something that started with C. Anyone up for it? this will keep this thread going and give others more opportunities to take different types of photos. It also has to be NEW photos

Simon the Cat

Prime = Fast, sharp, and foot zoom.
Zoom = Fast, sharp and convenient.

The 85L is meant for portrait and modeling photography, don't expect to perform like any other L lens, ridiculously slow on entry and mid range cameras, whereas fast enough on 1D series.

Any lenses has their weakness and strength, just need to know its role and what fstop to shoot.

If I did not own the 70-200 F2.8 IS, I would have the 135 and 200. Too spoiled from the 70-200 as a life saver.

Note: looks like this thread tuned from a car topic to photography...
