nah, that was when I didn't own a DSLR. I think this was from the last shrimp cruise or at matsumotos.. it was before getting my arnettes since I still had my titanium emerald oakleys
Finally got me a Rebel XSI from Costco last weekend. Took me a week to actually open the box & start playing with it on Easter Sunday. Needless to say, I'll be on full auto mode after making the ginormous leap from P&S to dSLR. Glad I waited... the price dropped $70 in the past month or so! Hope I can make it to the cruise!

Good for you on the get go. Took me a while with the leap also.
Just go on ahead and start playing around with the camera.
Read your instruction manual, read books and magazine at any bookstores/supermarket, and don't be ashamed to ask any of us how to work a camera!
My experience advice........... take as much shots no matter how good or bad it is. Then learn from it at preview mode

lol... none of those picks on my flickr page were my own work. That should be changing soon...that can be good or bad.
Ok, first question. What are your guys favorite websites to buy Canon or other DSLR accessories? Like spare batteries, flashes, etc? I don't plan on using anything other than the kit lens for now.

Both websites are quoted by other camera junkies that they're prices are unbeatable.

Also, don't be afraid to purchase used stuff from reputable forums like fredmirana.com.
The 18-55mm IS is actually a decent starting lens; great to learn off of. However, once your skill level goes up, definitely invest in better lenses. Over time, you'll develop a specific style of shooting.

Aside from the mentioned B&H and Adorama, I highly recommend using Amazon. Adorama sells through Amazon too and I've got a B+W MRC UV+Circular Polarizer for 30% less than what B&H and Adorama's own site wants, in new condition.
Also, don't be afraid to purchase used stuff from reputable forums like fredmirana.com.

I don't mind rockin' used goods
