Not sure why they would replace one of the strongest blocks made with one of the weakest.. but hey, its pretty cool they managed to cram a flat 4 in the bay of a car designed for an inline 4!
Now, don't go off on me being anti-subaru, I wouldn't trade my car for anything less than a Porsche, but I'm sure there is a story behind that transplant that gives some reasons not related to power output, or reliability.

You could make a case for the Evo 9 style 4G63 as being one the strongest, even against the 2JZ or RB26DETT. DSM style 4G63's kind of suck... but I've seen 500whp stock block 4G's stay alive for long periods of racing abuse.
