I'll keep an eye on them. Maybe if I sit in front of a PC I'll sign up for those forums. Using my phone at the moment.

"E85 has an octane rating higher than that of regular gasoline's typical rating of 87, or premium gasoline's 91-93. This allows it to be used in higher-compression engines, which tend to produce more power per unit of displacement than their gasoline counterparts. The Renewable Fuels Foundation states in its Changes in Gasoline IV manual, "There is no requirement to post octane on an E85 dispenser. If a retailer chooses to post octane, they should be aware that the often cited 105 octane is incorrect. This number was derived by using ethanol’s blending octane value in gasoline. This is not the proper way to calculate the octane of E85. Ethanol’s true octane value should be used to calculate E85’s octane value. This results in an octane range of 94-96 (R+M)/2. These calculations have been confirmed by actual-octane engine tests." [6]

Examples of this mis-citation can be found at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association titled "E85 Facts"[7] which cites a range of 100-105, and a document at the Texas State Energy Conservation Office titled "Ethanol"[8], which cites a 113 rating. "

Again, quoted from wikipedia. By all means Wikipedia is not the end all be all when it comes to fact finding, but it is a useful place to start. I quoted the 96 octane from the above article. I will do some research to see if it is in fact 105 or 96. Thanks for the imput 04caliwrx!

Would you buy E85 if fill stations offered? **** YEA!

I've gone so far as to contact the president of distribution for Aloha Gas ( Who is the company that imports it for the MCBH pump ) and he said it was in the works. This kind of publicity should speed the "works" up bigtime! Good on u man thanks for helping support the communities!

Would you buy E85 if fill stations offered it: Absolutely! It's great for horsepower, and there are MANY people who would convert to E85 if it came to Oahu!!

Shoot! I was hoping that us enlisted Marines would be able to use it considering it's on our base and all. I guess I won't be doing the E85 conversion to my WRX before I get it shipped over here now...

Thanks for the quick response!

im guessing people gave up on this dream to happen? Too bad there are tons of success stories of subaru owners switching to E85 on the mainland.

yeah not gonna happen. we have two refineries locally, one of which is closed i believe. and hawaii has strange laws... i'd run e85 for sure if it was here. just need some 1000cc injectors to replace my 525cc.
