Performance cooling ????????

I'm upgrading cooling system, like to know if i should also swap out stock thermostat for aftermarket one.

I read that the stock one fails in a closed position while some other aftermarket one fails in an open position, potentially saving your engine

I've had an aftermarket one on mine for about a year or so. No issues. It's obviously one of those great things that you have no real idea that it's working unless you've got a water temp gauge or your engine starts to overheat...then you know you've got a REAL problem.

Some smart guy over on Nasioc, I can't remember whom, stated that it wasn't a good idea because the ECU controls certain engine functions, such as fuel and possibly boost, based on coolant temp, and if you 'fool' your ecu by putting on one of these lower temp thermo's, then you might screw something up. There's probably some truth to it, but I don't think it's considerably enough to not reap the benefits from it.

yes but my car isnt running yet so i cant tell ya had my friend order me a thernostat

Much mahalos for the insight, i'm unsure of getting aftermarket thermo yet but radiator and fans coming in this friday.
