how many quarts did you put in the engine?
did you replace the oil filter when changing your oil?
did you check your oil when the car was warm (normal operating temp) car OFF?
is this your first time EVER you've change oil on a car?

One of the most important thing when checking your oil also would be to wait a little and let all the oil trikle down into the pan. You'd be suprised at the diffrence.

you may want to look at your spark plugs.
did you physically look under the car for any leaks? at the drain plug, pan, filter? did you use a new copper gasket? any on the splash gaurd?
how does the oil smell and feel? and glitter or grains in the oil? what color? what filter are you using? any smoke from exhaust? if so what color?

hey man, same thing happened to me. after not changing my oil for 3-4 months, i checked it and it showed that my oil level was loww. so i added in about 1 quart and then it was about 11/2-2 inches over the fill line. i was told that our cars are funny like that. some times it reads low/high. but yeah, make sure you let the car settle b4 checking your oil.
