Oil

So what Oil do you guys recommend I use on my New STI, I took my car in for an alignment issue and had them change the oil to whichever they recommended but I was wondering what everyone uses. I hear as long as it is within subaru's recommendation I can bring Oil with me to the dealer to have them use that, and still have my car covered under warranty.

I hear a lot of good things about Rotella T6 5w40 on other forums.

Amsoil. Used 5w30 sig series n did a blackstone analysis at little less than 3k mile interval. Blackstone said it looked well and I should b good for 5000 miles before my next oil change. Going to do another change at 4000 and sent that one in. Got my car tuned by pdx recently and changed it a lil over 2k mo
Miles. Got lil over 100 mileson it since tune so I got some time b4 my next analysis. Car ran about 2500 miles on it in cali where i was in higher rpm ranges due to higher speed limits than hawaii. I drive normal and dont race, however, I do open her up when I go on trips on h2/h1

My dealer is located in pearl/aiea if u eant his number. Severe gear is what I use for tranny/diff as well. Made a big diff in smoothness. Ps, use only manual reccomded spec'd oil! Idc what anyone says unless its the person that buolds ur motor thats telling u what spec oils to use

+1 for Amsoil. Having said that, I use Penzoil Ultra.

are the forums gonna cover your warranty when you tell the dealer you used the wrong grade? if your worried about warranty you oil cap tells you the weight of the oil you need to use.

in your book it states that turbo car needs to have a oil changed every 3750miles or 3.5 months..... in hawaii with "extreme climate" the dealer recommends every 3 months or 3k miles..... amsoil if fine and good but still need to follow the recommend intervals to keep warranty if your worried

^^^^ this! I use the subaru synthetic oil. It makes doing an oil change convenient to since you already have to go to the dealer for the oil filter and crush ring.

Oh and BTW, you can do your own oil and still keep your warranty. I do mine at the hobby shop so that I have a receipt to show proof of maintenance.

LoL you guys are hilarious. I'll just stick with what dealer gives. Took my car for alignment and my steering wheel is crooked now. But the guys down at subaru are pretty awesome, I gotta take it back to get it fixed. Aren't they supposed to fill out the warranty booklet when I bring it in for oil changes and such? Think they forgot to tag my book.
