No more 76 station 100 octane!?!?

Just saw this in a post by Subydude in BAIC:

they ARE stopping production of 100 cool blue... this information i got straight form the supplier.
Wow. That's hard to believe. Maybe someone can ask the station owner the next time they're at Gayle Au's place to see if this is true.

It's gonna suck if it is.

Xylene's $10 a gal. at Lowes. 116 octane, can't beat it. Unfortunately, I don't think it burns as hot as race gas. Helps me out a bunch, though. 1/2 tank 92 and 1 gal of Xylene nets me 95 octane. I've probably ran about 40-50 gallons of it through my fuel system over time.

Could some remind me to go out and buy some braided steel fuel lines?

Does the Xlyene slowly eat the rubber lines?

The braided lines are still rubber inside. The braid is for exterior abrasion. I get your meaning tho'.

Yes. All that I can say is that it's probably similar to GooGone but much slower.

I keep my 'high octane fillin'-up' tools all together. A bucket, a large funnel with the fill-hole covered with a nylon knee-high, a screwdriver to poke a hole in the top of the can, a monkey wrench to get the cap off, and a towel to cover the side of the car when I pour it in, and also to wipe everything off when I'm done.

The funnel is 2-piece in that the tubing screws onto the fill reservoir and that gets to leaking (because it has gotten eaten away a little). The E tape I put around it then has some of the glue on it melt a little. Also, the handle of the screwdriver (I keep everything in the bucket) has melted a little.

I'm not a smart man, but I know what boost is.

Oh, and guess what. I believe I'm not incorrect in saying that the regular pump gasoline you put in your car already has some toluene in it; I think 113 octane per gallon, but the same caustic or corrosive and carcinogenic properties as Xylene.

Hey Pat,

Taht sounds remarkably similar to my "Octane boost from Lwe's" setup. I haven't melted my screwdriver, yet. But if I find a track near Ft Carson, I'm sure I will. Sucks that Cool Blue 100 is on the way out.... suckage.

Hey Greg,

I've run across 2 SF dudes from 10th group who are Suby lovers. Want me to see if they want to 'hook up' with you?

Actually, I think one's on TDY to LA, though.

I just went to that gas station YESTERDAY and they didn't have any sign up or notify me that they weren't going to be selling it anymore...
