The later RS's came with shorter gearing,you need to match it with the wrx trans.

Take your time. As long as the car runs no sense stressing.
You might want to get a 1st gen legacy turbo crossmember to ease the installation.
Unless you have a wrx subframe, the wrx has a wider track, the legacy crossmember fits with the RS suspension.
I think you can get 1 from subaru.

The wrx crossmember fits with the rs suspension you have to shim the control arms. The bushing on the wrx vontrol arm is wider. The wider track is in the control arm not the cross member
Can't find a leggy crossmember, and yes I plan on taking my time especially since I have to wait for the heads anyways. But first things first, wheel bearing this weekend. Then hopefully take apart the heads and compile a list of things needed.
