New Tint

The tint on my car is fairly light and with the days getting hotter and all I was looking into getting the tint replaced with a darker tint. Does anyone know how to take the old tint off? I figure I'd save money and take it off myself but if its too difficult I probably wont.

Second question, does anyone know of a good tinting place to go to?

A darker tint doesnt necessarily mean you'll have a cooler car.

If you're concerned about heat then the quality is what matters. You need to spend the extra money (usually about 2-3x the price) and purchase one of the newer ceramic based tints. They have superior heat rejection. I doubt I'll ever go back to conventional tint.

I'd recommend Al's tinting in Aiea but there are a number of other shops that do good work and provide ceramic tint. Al has a cool display that shows how the different tints compare.

Agreed!! The ceramic based tints are awesome! Huper Optik and V-Cool are the lines he carries.

Yeah, what he said.

According to my friends who are tinters, both are extremely good at blocking heat. But I am told that the V-Cool is better.

1st of all, you are not on oahu. The guy is worried about recon, and being that you're not on this island you don't got this bullpoo law. If you can afford $1000 tickets for violating tint laws, (which some have gotten) then you must be wealthy, or stupid. At those high fines, go tint and Audi or some other high-end car.
