Hey guys, I just got here from Cali and I need to do safety check. I already took care of my tint, heard there is a big fine, and I raised my H&R coilovers so my front and rear have about 1-2 inches between tire and fender. My car is pretty much stock. From what I understand is that I will need to do an alignment in order to get recon. I do not have a way to adjust rear camber and im pretty sure its maxed out on negative camber. Where can I find a camber kit on island? Would I be able to get away with just trying to do a safety check before the new rules come into effect?

 

You're going to fail safety from the coilovers. Once that happens you go to recon and that will mean you'll need the alignment within 30 days of whenever you go do recon. If you pass recon then finish safety.

 

how strict are they with coils? do they still have to do a bounce test?

 

They really don't care what you have for suspension as long as it is soft enough to pass the bounce and your alignment settings are within factory spec.

 

would it help to remove the front and rear swaybars in order to achieve more bounce?

 

Yes, and deflate tires a bit as well.

 

just skip the recon all together and go to blank__ at the Blaank_station. they passed me even using the new ipad system for safety.

 

Shoots these are the things that get pm'd. Not blasted for everyone to see. This is how good shops loose their safety licenses
