New Best 1/4 mile times
New Best 1/4 mile times
I finally was able to run my car this past saturday at Capitol Raceway Park in the afternoon (temp 75 deg):
12.81 @ 108.3 mph
12.50 @ 111.1 mph
It took four hours of waiting in line to make two runs! The best part about the two runs is that i took down a superchared camaro with slicks and a superchared mustang. Both times the white dudes looked at me while we were about to pull up to our respective lanes and i could tell they thought beating me was a piece of cake. You should have seen their faces when we were picking up our times slips it was funny. As for my car, it's still not where i want it to be and part of the reason is that i have not found the right race gas. I used a shaddy 100 octane gas that made my car shake in 4th and 5th gears. I was afraid to turn the boost up to where it should be and peaked at 19 psi on both runs. (Should be peaking at 21-22 psi) The other reason is that my map has changed giving me more power between 3500 and 5000 rpms, but less power between 6000 and 7000 rpms than before. Enjoy HRP while you can because 1/4 mile racing out here is much more difficult. First of all, it is 55 miles to the nearest track and the traffic is crazy, it took me almost two hours just to get to the track. Then there's a higher cost ($25) to race and there were well over 200 cars running. I went on friday night when the temp was in the low 40's, paid my $25, and could not even get one run in because the lanes were just crazy packed. That night i saw stock jettas running 14.6's all night and witnessed a blue wagon (this is for you Chris) drop the clutch at 7k and clank all the way down the track. I will be attempting to go to Budds Creek Raceway Park this friday night because it is just for street cars and i should be able to get more than two runs, but i won't hold my breath.

glad to see the update and the kills ...but not happy to hear about the other side fun of jus getting to the track or the waiting. grass is greener, as they say..
now it seems like it's all coming together... good luck !
