Exclamation Need To Take Off The Adhesive

What product do I need to help me take off the rest of the 3M adhesive that they used for the STI logo on the trunk... It is killing me, I haven't got all of if off yet.

I need a PRODUCT what should I get...


By the way, I am just taking the sticky stuff off to replace the one those PUTOS stole from me a couple of weeks ago.

you will need a hair dryer, either goo gone or wd-40 will work.

I've had good experience with a spray can called OOPS! Adhesive remover. I bought it at walmart, it's white with a red cap.

If you use a hair dryer to heat the adhesive it waxes/peels right off.

Talking ^^^Agreed...

The hairdryer trick works well...but, you will probably end up with blisters on your fingertips after you roll all the adhesive off...

Goo Gone works, Napa has a tar remover which I've used and it works. WD40 is ok for the car as long as you wash it off and rewax the area after you're done. I've had to take off really old badges and pinstriping with turpentine. It doesn't remove clear coat but definitely be careful with it and clean the area after you're done.

^^^Brandy, didn't you describe a different trick to me using cellophane and goo gone?

I would just heat the area up and use something like your thumbs or a plastic spatula/scrapper to get it off.

Then polish/wax/buff/splooge.

clear coat is usually pretty strong, unless its still fresh. you just wanna stay away from thinners that they use in automotive paint.

Goo Gone did the trick for me. Just get to it after the adhesive has sat in the sun for a bit.

Ya that removed most of it... but pinstriping that's been on for years is a pain to remove. I used serran wrap and masking tape to trap the goo gone in over the pin stripe to let it soak in. There was some residue still left which I actually had to use turpentine to remove

I've been using 3M adhesive, tar & wax remover without any problems. It doesn't fugg up the paint and works pretty well. They sell it at places like Checkers. NAPA has an equivalent that they sell under their name too.

i took the "subaru" off my trunk and used goo gone on the left over adhesive. just put some on there and let it soak for a bit. come back with a damp towel/rag and just wipe all that crap off. might take a couple times to get everything off and clean, but it works great. i didn't even heat it up any. did it outside on a cloudy day too.
