I have heard the BOV throws off the stock ecu because unlike a stock bypass valve that reroutes the air back into the intake manifold, a BOV releases the air, but the ecu doesnt know the air isnt there, so it will release fuel as if the air was being rerouted, thereby causing the car to run rich

You are correct sir, at least that's what the thinking is with us old schoolers.

The general consensus is with 50/50 bov's.

When did any of us rip someone for their "dad buying a car". the OP didn't mention it, and we're just saying how if you buy a 07 sti with full cash w/o any type of payments and you're low on credit, that's a big life mistake.

the person who bought my car got his daddy to pay for most of it, and it got totalled 2 weeks after.

I've experienced it.

And to be quite honest, do research before you just go out and buy an exhaust. The car is a finely tuned machine and I'd really be disappointed if you are going to mod the car without knowing much about it.

yikes man, i didnt mean to insult the guy or anything. i was trying to be helpfull and save him money and pain with the bov. as for the credit card thing. if he is old enough to have and drive that pedigree of car then he should at least have some sort of bank account wich should give him a checking card that would allow him to buy online. if he doesn't then now is a great opportunity to get one.

congrats man, thats a hell of a car for someone your age. i hope you realize how lucky you are and count your blessings. just drive safe and dont be one of those reckless ********* who endangers others on the road. you dont want trouble with jonny law this early in your driving career anyway. have fun and come out to autocross with us, learn how to really drive and get a chance to put it to the floor legally!

btw i reccommend the hks carbon ti for an exhaust if you can find one. it looks sick, makes good power and sounds great. thats my personal skewed opinion tho
