Need help asap

so tonight i was putting my car back together and i stripped the whole for the timing belt tensioner. So what should i do to fix this problem? I was thinking of helicoil but idk.

Ya I would try and run a tap through it first. If that doesn't work I'd use a timesert over helicoil just cus they are a little stronger and with such crucial part being held on, you're gonna need the stregnth

Thanks guys I don't think I can run a tap cause when I pulled the tensioner back out the threads were stuck to the bolt.

I have to do this job in a few months so I will ask...were you tightening it with a torque wrench or just doing it for feel? Obviously this is a big mess for you (and I hope it works out) but I don't want to be in the same boat.

When Dave and I were checking everything on my v8 the one thing I noticed was how low the torque settings are on just about everything. Aluminum block = low torques, most of the time it doesn't even feel tight to me, but the torque wrench said different.

You simply need to replace the part behind the tensioner. I have a couple.
