Need help!!!!
Need help!!!!
Ok... This past sat. The 19th when it was storming real bad. I was on H1 headed towards kapolei and my wrx pretty much hit a slick puddle of water and sent me into a 360. No damage to my car thank god but it threw a code about my waist gate. And now my car runs really funny. Like I can be driving, shifts fine but when I give it a lot of gas the car revs high like it's about to take off and the car pretty much has to catch up to the rpm I'm at. I was told it's not my clutch going out. But I have no idea what else it could be. If anyone can help out or may know plz fill me in. Thanks

If your engine revs high in gear and you're going nowhere, it could be your clutch. If not, check your vacuum hoses. Might be a boost leak...
What's your CEL code?

If rpms increase with clutch pedal out (while in gear and moving), and the vehicle speed doesn't increase accordingly...your clutch is bad.
Seems to be going around these days. I changed 2 last week and have 2 lined up for next week.

I've had one guy tell me since subaru have a open fly wheel that I could have water in it, but I just remember the code saying something about HWG. Clutch goes in gear fine. Never grinned it. And all of a sudden this. So lost on what to do and most shops want a arm and a leg just to look at it

Step 1:
Don't listen to what most people tell you. Most people are oblivious to reality and lack basic cognitive function.
I can let you know exactly what is wrong for free. Not over the interweb, I would have to see it to be sure.
My wild guess:
Excessive wastegate duty cycle is possibly a different issue, or it could be because your turbo is spinning more as your clutch tries to engage (slips...while still under load) and the small wastegate opening on your turbo cannot expel enough gases to prevent a lean condition. While in normal operation, your clutch would engage and limit your engine rpms and limit the exhaust gases from spooling up the turbo more than normal.
This however, is only possible due to your aftermarket exhaust and catless downpipe.
I am drunk... and poorly attempting to make sense of this. But me drunk is better than most professional technicians on their best day.

Well my clutch comes in today around 4ish... Most places I've called want like 700$ to install and resurface my clutch... Anyone want to make some cash and install this bad boy for me. Never done a clutch on a Subaru. I'm willing to pay of course just need my ride up and working.
