My goals for 2009: Buy STI. Move to HI.
I was stoked to see a strong community based out of Hawaii. Hopefully by mid-end of '09 you'll be see me around on one of the islands. How big are the communities on the other islands besides Oahu?
Anywho - should I make it, you can expect me to be making a bunch of noise about gatherings, events, etc. I'm currently an active board member of the New England Subaru Club (we hold this: www.wickedbigmeet.com, small track events, etc.). If I wasn't hoping to leave NE I'd be trying to start a new RallyX series - fortunately it looks like HI needs one.
So, take this as a preemptive hi.
I've said it loud. Now I have to make the leap right?

I started looking at job listings.... not a whole lot out there for web developer types. Especially compared to the 5234523462346 listings in cold crappy Boston.
Bigbob: Hawaii is beautiful and a great place to live as well as having a good size Suby community and awesome people in general. The downside is, if you're looking to do any type of motorsports the only thing available is autox. There used to be a track but that closed down like 4or5 years ago. As for rally that's another obstacle because last i checked, they were even making it hard for trucks to go off-roading. Plus cops are strict with the whole RECON thing.

Welcome! I'm a former Suby owner, but still try and make it out to the meets and cruises. Nice peeps out here......You'll love the new ohana.
BTW, where are you from? My wife and I just traveled thru Boston, Cape Cod area, Rhode Island, and Connecticut last year for our Honeymoon. Awesome trip!

I've lived in Cambridge (near Harvard / MIT, 2 miles from downtown Boston) for 2.5 years, but lived in Burlington, VT (near Vermont Sports car aka SRT USA aka the shop that builds the rally cars and Ken's crazy contraptions) for 6 years before that.
I love New England, but.... I also love warm weather, scuba, beaches, dry windy roads

It's sad that healthcare suffers when the economy suffers. Not a whole lot of nursing jobs over there for my GF with the hiring freezes that are going on. Hopefully something opens up.

Nice. Legal Seafoods is pretty good, I used to go there for lunch all the time.
