It costs a bit more, but they put the car in a sealed container...minimizing damage caused by driving the car on the ship...I've seen those setups...it's scary man...

Go Horizon.
Wish the Marine Corps gave me that option..... aha no such luck!

IIRC, Matson insures up to $8000 in damages. Horizon on the other hand only covers $500... and then tries to sell you outrageously priced marine insurance (and terrorism insurance ). Fortunately, my regular comprehensive policy will cover any damages during shipping (although I will be devastated if my pristine car is damaged).
my car was shipped w/ matson. but im in the military so VPC paid all my damages. matson got off scott free

Maybe I should threaten them with death and make an example of one or two by hanging their disembowled bodies from meat hooks in a visible location... too much?

At least it will only be going to california and then i will see to the rest of its journey personally.

sorry to hear about the dammage to your car
hope your claim goes thru smoothly

my wife and i got a pretty good deal with horizion
the only problem was that we decided to do the drive from colorado to oakland. ("fun but long drive" oh crappy 100+ mph crosswinds suck too!!)
and missed the boat. so we shipped it out later than we had planned
and had to wait a week for it to come in but it was in the exact same condition as when we dropped it off so we were very satisfied.
