Hello evrybody. Well I have a question about Hawaii safety inspections. Well I will be movint to Hawaii on Aug. 3 I will be living in honolulu. Now how do the safety inspectors feel about aftermarket stuff. I want to know if I should put my car back to stock before it gets taken over there or can I leave everything the way it is. I am mainly worried about the exhaust. I thank you for your help.

 

Tint is the biggest worry... then it's the drop of the car. We don't have sniffer test over here... oh, and welcome to Hawaii and HIIC.

 

Thanks I am just worried since the exhaust is louder. I am coming from the washington DC area and here they wont pass you if you have aftermarket exhaust.

 

u dont have to worry about thing here. and mostly if u know someone (sshhhhhh!) lol.

Thanks for the offer on borrowing your exhaust. I might have to become a safety inspector when I get there maybe I will get paid more. I am a auto mechanic so we will see what goes. I am trying to get into the Lexus of honolulu shop, I have been working for Lexus here for over 2 years and I would like to stay with them but I might have to go to subaru, infinity, nissan or toyota. We will see

dark surfer how long have you been at the bottom of the totem pole? I will try to move up by working on some of you guys cars.

Well my wife and I just left DC area 5 months ago.....i have 14% tint.....and on my wifes car she has an exhaust and they sent her to RECON....and RECON said she didn't need them.....i think the laws are a little bit more stricter here..... all i can say is here in HI if you are lowered, dark i mean dark tint you would probably need to get rid of it....

mainly tint and the drop are the big things for recon, unless your exhaust is crazy go nuts loud.

you can try and do it without changing anything, if you don't pass you lose out on $15 or so

 

Well my ehaust consist of Perrin up/down pipes and HKS Hi-ppower cat back. I just dont want to take it off over there and then reinstall it unless I have to. So should I just remove it here? If you guys think i will be fine than I will just leave it on. I can't wait to get there though.
