Motor mounts

Aloha, I have an 06 wrx and one of my motor mounts is ripped. Wondering the price range of labor to replace ALL of the motor mounts with the "group n mounts" motor mounts. Anyone else change theirs yet?

Why not do it yourself? Its quite simple honestly and tons of DIY's.

Do you have the mounts already? It's super easy to swap out.

Also, if you are doing that, might do the trans mount too that makes A HUGE DIFFERENCE!

I would do it myself but I'm not very mechanically "inclined" id love to learn though. Don't have the money to pay $600 for labor. I haven't ordered the parts yet, next week I will though. A friend of mine said you can just jack up the car and put jack stands underneath the motor then lower the jack so the motor rises above the bay. Instead of completely taking out the motor. I'll look into trans mounts also. Thanks!

The job is not really hard at all, not even time consuming. Being not to handy with a wrench and having a WRX is a match made in hell

Appreciate the link. Haha you're telling me! I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the cars and just in general but I have nobody to learn from or to teach me so I just have to keep doing research.

let me know how easy it is. I got a tranny mount, pitch stop, and pos shift kit coming in the mail. everything I've done to my car was "first time", diy searches and youtube is your friend! has never failed me thus far. of course takes 2-4 times longer then they estimate, but I blame my ocd. all you need to know is 1) have the tools 2) know how to follow directions 3) know that 99% of the time its righty tighty, lefty loosy.

Yeah for sure I'll let you know how it goes after he purchase and installation. Also I bought an sti wing planning to swap out the stock wrx wing but I've heard only 4/10 holes are drilled. Would it be a bad idea to just do 4 bolts or drill the rest of the holes in the trunk? I'm concerned about leaks and cracking the paint around the bolts and having it spread.

Your pitch stop, tranny mount and POS Shift kit should not take long at all. The trans mount is one of the best upgrades. I just did that in my WRX, along with the transmission mount bushings.

I'll comment since I'm swapping mine out right now on the 05. It's honestly pretty easy. When you're taking it off, just make sure and mark which way things go before taking it off with a grease pen/marker/etc. You technically can't torque the drivers side upper, rear bolt but just put some strength behind it and you got it.

14mm Ratcheting flexhead wrench is a must in my opinion.

Several mounts to choose from also...

1. OEM
2. Group-N
3. Solid (Cusco, etc.)

If you want a more solid mount with less NVH than a solid mount...go with the Group-N.

Whenever I switched out my mounts...I went with the Cusco Solid mounts...you'll hear/feel more vibrations...but you will never have to worry about your mounts again...There are many solid/semi-solid mounts available on the market these days to choose from...

Like Jack said...it's a good idea to throw on a Group-N transmission mount at the same time...

All OEM style subaru engine mounts will rip eventually with spirited driving, the Group N's even more so as they are made with less compliant rubber.
