I'd prefer those offroad skateboards (4 wheels) over that. That looks like it has broken face written allover it for me.

 

I would bet that thing is faster if you are going down a trail, doubt it will be able to carve turns though

 

I'll have to dig through my bookmarks but i remember a site that had all these concept boards and preproduction boards on it - this was there too, iirc, they were proposing it for use for soldiers in the field to traverse desert terrain quickly etc

cool concept, theres a hubless wheel version that puts your feet in the wheel hub area to keep your CG lower and afford more precise control on the wheels (i'll have to dig up pics)
