Mirc and Yahoo!

Why can I connect to the AIM Oscar server and not to Mirc and Yahoo?

Assuming you're using a military unclass network....

The NOC has a lot of the ports blocked out for security reasons. At work, I can get MSN messenger and Yahoo up, but I can't get on aim or mirc. If you guys are set up the same we are, all of the port blocking is controlled at the gateways where the military's unclass network goes out to the internet.

All I know is that I'm on NIPR. They've probably already got a water-tight case built on me (I know I'm not as sneaky as I think I am.)

NIPERNET....same as us, then.

You're right. They see all!!

You'd know if you were doing something too bad, though. We had a guy surfing ****, and they called my boat. Didn't even ask for the LAN Admin of the command (me), they went straight to the CO! I found out how fast sh*t rolls down hill that day!

Hoping that IS2Scoob's and Black Shadow's stuff won't get me in too much trouble.

I wouldn't think so, honestly. A lot of what they look at is how much time you've actually spent at a site. A person downloading a file for a minute or so, or having a popup come up and close it quickly, doesn't get too much attention. Having that same person spend 10 minutes on the same site..........that's usually where the flags start to fly.

I look at the same stuff from my work comp, and never have any issues.
