I was driving my car yesterday...while entering an onramp to H1, ACCELERATED then heard a surge from the turbo, hit 16psi, then lost all my boost, the car bogged and I managed to limp home. I checked out the engine, luckily I only found the compressor outlet hose popped off as well as the hose that connect the TMIC to the throttlebody, ...anybody else had this happen to them?....it was a first for me...I guess I gotta remove the TMIC and clean all the insides of the hoses so they dont slip off again.

So lemme get this straight...
1. You accelerated on the onramp (aggresively I assume).
2. Heard a Surge from turbo
3. Proceeded to hit 16 psi
4. then all hell broke loose.
Didn't it occur to you to stop when you got the surge? I may be wrong because it may have been an instantaneous thing.
Anyways, get the real screw type hose clamps not those Subaru OEM "clips".

The car is fine, I guess it just bogged bigtime when the hoses came off which caused an overrich condition.
Put the hoses back on tightly, and test drove it - felt fine till it slipped off again!
Looks like the intercooler mount on the passenger side was barely hanging on so Im gonna need to reattach it to the bracket.

I meant to say, heard the turbo spool up aggresively (16lbs boost is normal for my car @ 93 octane tune) and when it hit 16lbs of boost - thats when I heard a loud whoosh sound (guess thats when the hoses came off) then BAMMM! the car bucked and my boost gauge showed "0" right away! Its a spooky feeling cause I thought something broke...
As for the hose clamps... my STi came with the screw type clamp, not a clip (?)
So are those hydra air clamps way better?

^^^Most likely but I would say get the aftermarket hoses too...maybe the OEM ones are worn out or something, leading to them flexing and coming off...I dunno...what does everyone else think?
Is 16 PSI your max boost?

Dude, just clean the hoses with alcohol, or stick them in your dishwasher. I bet that lots of blowby oil has made them slick. If you just clean them out and tightley reclamp them down you should be fine.
