I'm not trying to knock you or anything. I'd like to know how your trans feels. How's your clutch? Do you feel it's broken in nicely yet? Maybe I'd get a better idea of how to launch your car w/it's current setup. When you say you're scared of your tranny, is it because it feels unsure? Is it because you don't know exactly what it can handle? Word has it that those gears are tough. They're in a lighter car too. I'm sure your tranny can handle a good launch, granted your not simply dumping the clutch.
I found out a new way to launch my car which gave me the best times in over a month. Contrary to everybody else's method of bouncing/holding the revs at about 4.5/5k rpm, I launch my car at 3k rpm. I've got that much low-end torque. Any higher than 3k and all four tires break loose in an AWD burnout, costing me some valuable time. At just around 3k, the car just launches forward without any drama or bogging.
Your setup is definately unique and I am curious myself how you'd launch a lighter car w/a t/c'ed 2.5L non-STi block. What is the nature of your powerband? At what rpm does your power really come in? What rpm does it taper off at? On top of that, you've got the RA gearset and an upgraded clutch. Also, I'd be curious how your tires behave upon launching. Do they give a little or do they just stick? How's the total diameter of your tire/wheel combo compared to stock?
Let me know how it goes next week.

dude.... you shouldn't think about your tranny as of this momment cause its protected big time. i've been racing before and after the wrx swap, even with a turbo upgrade on my99 rs tranny.... its still running strong. i should be scared of my tranny not you. you should be scared about your motor a whole lot more than your tranny trust me on that from experience. do what josh does, thats what i do!!! and as for those rims get something lighter. i proved it this pass weekend. i raced with my show rims which was about 50 lbs each on friday and i did ****ty. put your stock rims on when you race or something lighter....!(" ,)
P.S. practice your launches!!

well after talking to someone my bov MAY be stuck open. due to it only boosting at 2 or 3 lbs. last night i swear it said 2lbs. and i have a 5-7lb spring in it. or it could be a hole leaking somewhere.
my launch is at 4k"holding it" tho i'm letting go to slow. my tires are gripping no slip. tho my rims are heavy as hell. like i said i know i can do much better. just babying it.
tho i know that there is a prob. with boost somewhere. i was doing some research and this kit i have should be running a http://ludespeedperformance.tripod.c...ts/stage2.html "this is the kit i have." i think i have the stage 2 kit due to the parts that i have that came in my kit. tho even the stage one kit should be running a 14.00
look at this. at stock my car was ran at a 15.6. & with the turbo kit with stock clutch/flywheel/exhaust ran a 14.48 and with the new clutch and 2.5 exhaust ran a 13.6 http://ludespeedperformance.tripod.c...s/results.html i mean i got alot more then that ya know. and my car is no where near these #'s even with a better lunch i don't think it will get that much better my lunch on my first and 2nd run wasn't that bad.

Hold it at 4800-5000 and just let it slip, last yellow, you should have a better 60ft, with that method.....
