Looking to rip DVD's

Finally got a DVD player in my computer. Also have a DVD burner. Looking to make my own movie collections and need a good DVD ripping program. Any help?

Also, I have 4.7 GB discs, but I know that there is a way to burn multiple layers onto the same disc. How to do this?

The smaller the Download the better, or if I can get it at Best Buy, that would be cool, too. I have some gift cards to burn off there, anyway.

Both clips and screen rips would be nice.

dvdXcopy

Ok go buy DVD X copy. It is the most easy to use software for DVD copying. As far as Dual-layer disks, the only current way to put more than 4.7 gb on one side of a dvd is to stamp it. Dvd's movies from the stores are almost all stamped DVD's becasue it allows for more features and other things. I think that it is DVD X copy gold that you want, but just make sure you get the best one that Best Buy or CompUSA has. I use it and it is great. The copies work in everything including PS2 and XBox.

I use DVDShrink and Nero. Nothing better than FREE!

Well Nero isn't free unless you pirate it, which is what I do; sometimes it comes as a half version with cd burners. You can get pirated DVD X Copy on Kazaa also.

please don't say that on public forums. this can get you incriminated easily. take it to pm's.

with that said.
On dvd copying...
DVD X Copy Platinum is the best out there. Pricey though.

movie transferring and editing would best done on Pinnacle Studio.

and to write dvd's...its a toss up between Nero 6 and Roxio's Easy DVD Creator...alot of people bash Roxio but they stepped up with their DVD version although the CD version was teh suck.

i use pinnacle studio for movie copying from my mini DV. but editing and creating long videos (more than 30 minutes) it will freeze up as posted in many forums. for DVD movie making i use dvd movie factory for quick easy and simple home creations. for more elaborate ones i use MGI video wave or studio 8.

for compressing i use dvd2one but i'm going to try out the latest release of dvdshrink. i heard it is good and free.

for dvd ripping i use dvd decrypter (free)

http://www.divx-digest.com/ is a good source of info as well.

Personally I use Smartripper (free) to rip and FlaskMPEG (free) to compress the streams.

DVD X COPY GOLD edition is a lot better then the regular dvd X copy because it allows you to burn dvd's that are in episode format like the Sopranos and Simpson's. It also allows you to burn all the special fetures and sort through them to see if you want to include them or not.
