Latest Best Motoring DVD
Saw a new DVD for sale at SpeedGear today "The EVO Strikes Back" I had already spent too much at Ala Moana today and did not want to add another thirty-three bucks to my tally (daaamn, those Best Motoring DVDs are expensive!). Since the STi Spec C was the better car against the EVO VII last time, this is where the EVO 8 gets its revenge. Has anybody out there seen it yet, or better yet, where can I get it for a more reasonable price? The DVD looks very good though, with track model EVOs and the nemesis STi on the back cover. Despite all the magazines and such touting the EVO 8 over the STi, and the obvious dead giveaway as to the test results in the DVD's title, I'll just probably just shut my eyes and shell out the $32.99 plus tax price (ouch!) just to see the STi and EVO duke it out on a race course.

I'm guessing, even though I haven't seen the new Best Motoring yet, that the Spec C will open a can of whoopass on the Evo 8...again.
I don't think the 2.5 STi has any more advantage over the Spec C Type RA other than the 0.5L displacement. The Spec C is 2400 lbs..Thats wicked for something that people still say is over 300chp even with the voluntary 280hp mark.
I remember I got to drive a Evo 5 when I was down in Hong Kong but I had a hard time because of the RHD system but the car does "point and shoot." and is wickedly fast and this was stock. One thing though, it felt like a go-kart somewhat. Compared to my DSM then, my DSM was making more power out of the 4G63 but yet it felt more civil. Another thing I remember is how funny the engine sounds on a stock Evo 5. It sounded like it was a sport bike.
One thing I think Subaru should have done is give the STI as much amendities as the WRX(stereo etc etc) and bring in the ej20 Spec C Type RA and sell it in very limited edition with a few grand more(or even same price) than the STI. How many of the current users will pick the Spec C?(-nudge Dan-). That thing can run mid 12's. easy although I would like to see how much power you can extract using the latest ECU tuning technology.
