Dell makes an excellent cheap PC but their tech support seems to be based in India... Therefore if you ask them a question you better have a dictionary or theasaurus handy.

so the majority is saying Dell... How are the HP laptops now? I like the features that they got in them and they seem to hold up as previously stated. Sony is just getting way to over priced but I LOVE their screens though!!!
When making a decision on a laptop what should be my priority when making a selection... it will be used for tuning but I'd like to use it for other things (work...etc.) I will be working with graphics and video so memory and speed is a factor. Storage is also VERY important.
Thanks,
Jon

HP's not bad. I've got one for mobile gaming since they're the only ones that offer the mobile nvidia 5600 for a fair price. With any laptop though, I recommend reformatting and putting in your own copy of windows.

I may be the only one, but I love my Sony. 2.4 GHz and great for a desktop replacement. Got it for ~1350 on sale at Best Buy. Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37. There is another one from the same series that has the Centrino that shouldn't suck batteries like this one.
I took this thing to AOB with me and it served me GREAT.

DELL XPS = 2x more than its worth.
Dells are just like any other manufacturer companies out there. They don't "build" their computers anyway.
