Karting at the Groove, Kaka'ako
Anybody been to the the kart track at the Groove in Kaka'ako?
I'm going to be out for a visit with family/friends on Oahu and was thinking of checking this place out. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on them.
How long is the course? ie what's the typical lap time?
How does it compare to Podium in Kapolei? I like that Groove is outdoor... I like rain! Plus I think gas karts are more consistent than electrics.
Prices seem as expected for Hawaii.
I've done indoor karting many times here in California so I was wondering how this place stacks up.

I know the SCCA family goes there every week(multiple times even), a long with quite a few others. If it's good enough for them, I'd say it's good enough for me. Haven't gone yet but planning on it soon /w the wife.
Podium and the groove are 2 different ones. U need more muscle work on the wheel especially when turning(the groove) not like at podium u slide more. So far i have just seen one track type at the groove that they have been using. Lap wise, podium(14laps) the groove is around 20-21laps as far as i remember. More tiring at the groove with those long laps.. By 15-16laps. U feel fatigue/cramping on ur arms. But what you need to experience at the groove, is when you race in the rain. It makes a big difference/challenging. I hope u enjoy! (So far waiting time @ the groove is way better than podium..
The weekly tournament ( what the SCCA guys do on Tuesday evenings ) qualifying time is 16sec, but the averages on a dry track are between 14.7 and 15.5 sec. You should come and and race on Tuesday!

Damn! I'm in Honolulu right now! If I wasn't leaving for Maui tomorrow I would totally go to meet all of you. Drove by the track a couple times in the last 2 days and wanted to check it out.
The Groove Honolulu Deal of the Day | Groupon Honolulu
Groupon currently has a deal: $30 for 2 races. Would be cool if we held a meet there haha
