i Jet-Hotted my Cobb 304 stainless Up pipe with jet hot's ulta hight temp stuff.. i believe its called 2000.

if i could, i would jet hot everything pre turbo side every time. the quality, protection and gains are worth it. keeps more thermal energy in the pipes.. = more energy going into your turbo. keeps pipes from rusting.. especially here in HI. they do a quality job and keep dibs on the order status very professionally.

i got mine done in cobb blue!

My question on top of his question is:

For the price of the header and the coating...is it really worth it considering the other stuff you could buy?

Thumbs up

I ceramic coated my Borlas and the amount of heat NOT in the engine compartment compared to before the mod was dramatic!

Jet-Hot Warning

I had a set of headers sent to Jet-Hot which were destroyed. Jet-Hot paid for their mistake and I had Hi-Tech at Campbell Industrial Park ceramic coat my headers. Excellent work and the price was right. Just my $0.02

really depends on what your needs are pbang.

for me, there were no other mods that i needed or wanted at the time, and ceramic coating my new up-pipe made sense.

if i ever get headers i'll be sure to coat them

it really helps prevent pipe corrosion, so your parts last longer and stay nicer, reduces underhood temps, and passes more thermal energy to your turbo- aka your power maker!

it all makes sense to me.. but for some, there may be other mods that would be a better investment / bang for the buck at the time.

up to you.

I have to agree with San, I had my Fujitsubo headers done by Hi-tech and removed the heat shield without any problems at all.

Be careful w/ ceramic coatings before the turbo. Just look at some EGT numbers and you'll notice that they can get close to the limits of standard ceramic coatings. I like Jet-Hot's 2000 deg stuff for coating headers and up-pipes. I'm not sure what Hi-tech is using.

Another thing to consider w/ regard to Jet-Hot is that they coat the inside and outside surfaces. Many other places only coat the outside. What can happen (depending on the construction of the piece) is that more heat is retained in the part which can weaken welds. By coating both the inside and outside surfaces the heat is retained in the exhaust gasses.

BTW I use Performance coatings now. Service has been great and they're on the West coast so it's cheaper than Jet-Hot.

very, very good point Mister. thats why i went with Jet Hot's 2000 coating. most ceramics simply cannot withstand repeated use with the high egt's the pre turbo parts see in a WRX or STi.

very important to check the temp ratings and inside/outside coating options of your ceramic coater before you purcase.

i cannot reccomend JET HOT enough. give em a try i guarntee you wont be disappointed.

you can see the inside coating of my uppipe in one of those pics.

very nicely done.

I personally didn't want the inside of my header/uppipe unit coated. Plenty of threads on NASIOC arguing for and against it, I chose to do the outside only. As for JetHot, I was very disappointed. They took forever and broke my header, resulting in my having to order another one and wait even longer. If I was going to pay for shipping charges from Oahu, I'd probably go with Swaintech. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

bump up an old thread

do you guys remember what you spent on your coatings? also do you remember what the temperature or degree tolerance was for the ceramic coating Hi-tech uses? I am looking at getting a down pipe protected from the elements is my main concern but the ceramic coating must with stand the heat and maybe they will have some cool colors too.

Thanks
