I'm approved for release from here. Now, so long as the beauracracy doesn't bite me in the *** (packet is now forwarded through USARPAC to HRC, formerly PERSCOM), I'll be on Oahu as early as 15 or 16 AUG for a couple of weeks to clear, then it's off to Indiana where hopefully by that time Kathy will have found us someplace rural to live. Rural = large, fenced backyard, the nearest college student residence will be no less than 5 miles near me. There's a dirt oval just south of town, too.
I'm gonna start shopping for a shifter cart or a midget.

Thanks.
Naw. It's sort've like an emergency re-assignment...for my sake.
I'm going to be the Bloomington, IN recruiting company commander.
I wasn't going to be very promotable if I were to continue on as I currently am. I needed to opportunity to command another company.

Congrats, Pat. I was kind of hoping that you would still be in country in a few months. There are rumors ALL over the regiment, and some say South Asia. Congrats, again. After I get back from wherever I am going, let me know if you'll need an XO or something.
Congrats Pat! I may be in your area around the end of 2006. If I re-up, recruiting is one of the deals I thought of taking up. Keep safe for the remainder of your time over there, & enjoy the feeling of coming home to an acre or more of land that didn't cost you over half a million bux!

gracias los todos.
Greg stay away from recruiting. You need to constantly remind yourself to stay with troops (Division and below) as much as possible.
Jason, I don't know about Navy, but in the Army recruiting is conversely very beneficial for an NCO. I'll be in the 812 for a good long while.

It's a good/bad deal for us. Good, in the fact that you got LOTS of extra cash to do the job, you're on shore duty instead of going out to sea, going home every night etc....
The bad part is that I'd probably be working a lot of Saturdays, driving TONS of miles in a govt vehicle, and eating at McDonald's a lot.
I think coming back home for a few years could definitely offset the bad parts, but it's all up in the air right now.
