Invidia N1 vs Q300
Invidia N1 vs Q300
Long time lurker and finally decided to post this. I was wondering what you guys think I should get. I want an exhaust that is louder than the stock or SPT exhaust offered from Subaru and am trying to decide between the N1 or Q300.
I'm hearing various reviews about both exhausts and wanted to hear your guys perspective.
I love the rumble the N1 has over the Q300 but people have been saying the N1 is way too loud. Has anyone had any run-ins the the cops because of the loud exhaust? Basically just trying to see which exhaust can be decently louder without getting pulled over by the cops and being able to have conversations with my passengers.
I have a '12 WRX Sedan, so I don't think droning would be too much of a problem compared to the hatches
Mahalo!

I have the Q300's and I have friends who have the N1. IMO the q300 is a deeper rumble and the N1 is a little bit more high pitched. If your going for a louder exhaust go with the N1. I'm told drone isnt bad with the N1...You wont get pulled over for your exhaust being to loud with any of these...
Also you have to put in the fact whether you like the quad exhaust look or vice versa.
If you want to go loud and obnoxious, go N1. Then again you're losing the quad look and leaving an empty space on the left exhaust side. I don't own an N1 so I'm not pretty sure how to explain the sound other than YouTube videos. You're best bet is just asking/hearing someones N1 in person.
Go nameless muffler deletes if you want to go loud loud. In person, they are super loud and it signifies that boxer rumble. Plus if you're running a DP, it just gets even louder. You will definitely hear you're coming around the corner. Then again, you might get in trouble with the police. My friend shifts around 2000-2500rpm b/c over that, to already loud, but then again, he's running this setup plus a catless DP.
Q300 is perfect in my opinion. It didn't meet my needs at first b/c I was running a stock DP but after switching to a catted DP, the q300 made my car more lovable. You can notice that a Subaru is driving by while cruising in the streets, but when at WOT, the sound is amazing. It's not as loud as the N1 or the deletes but it makes my car noticeable while cruising around town. Still breaking necks with this setup. Lol
Choice is yours man. Just remember, loud can get pretty old quick plus passengers may be annoyed of loud/obnoxious cars. But everyone has a different opinion. Just try to make it acquaint to your daily driving style. If it's your DD, go q300 but a weekend thing, go N1 or nameless muffler deletes.

I have the catted Invidia N1 as well but thinking about getting Q300 now. I've had it for quite some time and it feels like its just too loud now. Dont get me wrong, the sound is great and even better at WOT, but I think im over loudness of it and want a more refined exhaust sound.
Yeah, it's going to be a DD so I don't want it to sound obnoxious to my coworkers and boss lol. I'm guessing the Q300 is probably the way to go then. As long as I can still get a nice rumble and have people turning heads that'd be good lol
Do you guys know any place I can buy locally? I was thinking about buying from RSD, but obviously supporting local would be better. Should I go for used? Are used exhausts worth getting?

Google then call the number of the business. I know Streamline Performance will order it for you and can usually get you at least shipping off. It'll take a little longer than ordering it from RSD though.
Used is ok, as long as it is not torn up, cracked, etc....

Does anyone have the SPT exhaust? I'm curious to see how they sound.
My '15 (stock) sounds a bit differently than my '12 did. Not sure what Subaru changed, but it's now less throaty, and a bit more growl. Didn't notice it in the car, but noticed it when my wife took it to the store and I was standing outside. I like it, but I want something a bit louder and a bit more of that noticeable rumble without going too loud.

i have the dual n1s and ive got nothing but compliments on it. its not overly loud like the single muffler since its distributed between the two and you don't leave an empty space on your bumper as with the single. its a compromise between the N1 single and q300

Goodluck!!!
Thanks for more advice! Hopefully I'll be able to make it to this Friday's meet to see everyone's setups depending on how my studying goes for finals.
I really like the rumbling from the N1 at idle compared to the Q300. It's also cheaper than the Q300 so that's a plus

I have an N1 on my subie and I while it can be louder than the Q300, it isn't obnoxious to me. I think it all depends on what else your planning to do to your car. I only have the Catback N1 with a stock DP so the rumble is perfect for my setup and it's only loud at WOT but other than that the idle is pretty quit, next to no drone (i.e wife won't complain about it) and I've had cops right behind me in Waikiki and didn't get a ticket. If you're planning on adding a DP (especially a Catless DP) and/or up pipe you may wanna go with the Q300 as the combo of the DP and N1 will make your car much louder. Good luck with your search and post some vids once you install and for sure check out RallySport when your ready to order ;-)!!
With that said I'm planning on picking up a 2015 WRX soon and now that the rumble isn't as pronounced im worried an exhaust with DP might attract cops as the sound is much more high pitched with the new engine and setup.

I don't think I'll plan on getting a DP for quite the while. The only thing I'm afraid of which my friend brought up was that people will notice my footwork with a louder exhaust. This is my first car to learn stick on and although it's been a while I still find myself riding the clutch a bit, so I don't wanna look like a douche haha
Thanks for the input! Good to hear that I won't get pulled over in Waikiki with the N1. At least now I know whichever exhaust I choose I'll still be able to drive in Waikiki.

Ordered the Invidia N1 exhaust a week ago and got it installed over the weekend!
You guys were right, this exhaust is very pronounced but isn't obnoxious. Glad I made the right choice. Next step is either an Invidia catted DP or a diff. set of headers.
Will post vid soon once I get my suction cup mount for my GoPro shipped
