I'm in a real bind can you guys offer your opinions

Ok here it is, my WRX is dying seriously i have a reading of about 75 psi on all 4 of my pistions. its been like that now for about 6 months and man does it suck. I have had enough money to fix it at one point and then something HUGE came up and i was back to square 1 w/ no money and now back to trying to figure out how to fix my car. If you were me knowing that you would not have the money to fix your car anytime soon.( in like 3 months) Would you sell what ever you could from you car or just wait 3 more months and see if you can come up w/ the cash to fix it and hope nothing else comes up?? I'm really depressed my car runs likes hell, and i know some of you probaly know how i feel since you've driven my car.

One last thing if i were to sell some things do you think you guys would buy this stuff at these prices?? I know this is not the 4-sell forum, i'll put this stuff up there if people like what they see. i just gotta figure this out.

TBE exhaust from TurboXS --- 750.00 w/ your stock exhasut in return

Blitz SBC-ID III ---- 475 w/ free installation

i have other stuff that i could sell but if i sold these 2 parts for these prices i would be good. Let me know what you guys would do.

thank you
Mario

Mario,

Sell everything you can. The car in it's current shape isn't anything buy a liability in that you can't (or shouldn't be) driving it) and you can't sell it.

6 months of driving on it in that shape could have further damaged something much more expensive than rings or pistons.

Fix the pistons now. If you sold $600-700 worth of stuff now, you and Justin could swap out the pistons, rings, and head gasket in a dedicated weekend.

I

would want someone to inspect at least the cylinder walls. I'd hate to pull the motor just to pull it again.

I wouldnt buy any parts till the motor is taken apart...If your pistons have damage - it can also damage the cylinder walls also which would require a larger set of pistons and rings, and some machining of the cylinders. I know this from experience!!!, I ended up getting a used block which was worked out better $$$ wise.

On a better note... it could also mean that your cylinder head gaskets may have gone bad...(least expensive fix), hope thats all it is dude...

I already have a used short block that just needs pistons and 1 oil piston squiter which i'm getting from a SR20DE. i already plan on overboring it to 3.825 from 3.812. custom pistons, rings and over bore cost a total 800 bucks total, i just can't forget i need cometic head gasket and new block studs + gaskets which run about another 300. Oh and i almost forgot atleast $200 in stall fees @ Pearl Harbor Shop were i'll do the swap.
