wait so you got it in but it won't mount? i'm guessing you got the wires hooked up but the screws on the side fo the bracket doesn't line up with the ones on the radio? that is strange. all desk have standard holes drilled. what deck did you pick up?

Did you go to a stereo shop for the harness? They should have told you that you need a " kit " that fills the gap with a plastic pocket and trim ring of some sort. As for the deck I'm not sure about the mounting

hmm i've installed two panasonic decks in others cars (previa and a maxima) and their holes are also standard. just making sure but are you fitting it up in the middle of the bracket? the deck should be place the extreme top with the bottom dim left open so there should be no space at the top. or you can place it in the lower part but will have problems if the deck is a face flip which it isn't (i know b/c my kenwood would get stuck)

i don't think there is an aftermarket kit to fill in that gap. i have an RS so i have the pocket to take up that space. i heard you can buy that pocket to fill it in. over people have used plexiglass or plastic to cover it. you can also mount the 45mm gages there too.

this shows what i'm sort of talking about. that blank spot under the deck is usually trim you need to frabricate.

nope. it was some random one i grab in the audio forum.

i'm running a kenwood 859 deck, nakamichi coaxals in the doors, directed and alpine amps, and one 12" MA audio sub. was thinking of using the nakamichi deck but i wanted the color and flip display of the kenwood. i'm more of an audiophile than a racer, which is why none of you seen me at the tracks. been installing systems for friends since my sophmore year in high school. college is where i got the appreciation of autocross from my work on the formula SAE design project.

I may have the pieces you need to fill the gap with a pocket. When I installed my deck in the STi I only had to remove the cover mount and was done.
Worse case I have a Subaru cover which would mount and cover the space. If you come out to AutoX on Sunday I can bring what I have. Here is a picture of my deck installed.
