If you suck water into your engine...
I have a friend that when we had all that rain a couple monthes ago sucked up some water. He had to let the car sit since then. I got it running yesterday and now he has low oil pressure. I am thinking that maybe some of that nasty oil/water is plugging up a oil jacket or something or oil pump screen is clogged. He said the day after it happened he drained the oil and ended up with 1 1/2 gallons of oil/water the car only holds about four quarts...Just wanting to know if anybody has any ideas what could now be causing the low oil pressure. I pulled off the valve cover off and rotated the engine with a ratchet and the cams looked fine but we got it runnung and let it run for a couple minutes and it started sounding funny I pulled the valve cover off again and rotated the engine now there are some lobes on the exhaust cam only that looked like they were not getting any oil which makes me think he might have a clogged oil jacket so does anybody have any ideas to clear it out without taking the engine apart car is a 1994 Acura Integra...Thanks for any help

I'm thinking bottom end damage, Bro. That motor is most likely going to have to come apart.
Did the motor run after sucking water in? If so... Ouch.
I hydro'd a jeep once. I got it up and running and all was fine, but the motor quit on me and I didn't let it run after that (didn't even try to crank it more than once because I knew the motor had ingested some seawater).

It'll start right up I just don't think I am getting oil or enough oil up top. when it first happened he pulled all the plugs and bumped the key and he said water shot out of the spark plug holes...I told him it might have to come apart at least the head will have to come off. But I didn't want to take stuff apart if we didn't need to..He said when he realized he sucked up water he shut it off. What's funny he was using a detour on base because the roads were flooded
Man if there was water in the combustion chamber he is screwed. Water does some screwy things in an engine. It'll lock up quick. He has probably already scored the cam bearings and probably the piston walls, maybe even that main bearings. I don't think water would plug an oil passage. Have you ever seen what happens when you loose the water side of a headgasket into an oil jacket? Bad news.
Funny this was posted. 2 or 3 days ago, a friend of mine talked about a mutual aquaintance who did the exact same thing in a Trans Am. Driving down the road, he misjudged a "puddle" and ended up with water coming over his hood. Some REALLY severe motor damage ensued. When he called USAA, they said, "Oh, this happens all the time out here" and sent him a $10,000 check to get the motor fixed! Pricing was based off of what it would cost for the dealers to replace a complete OEM motor!! Might be an "idea" for your friend, Jeremiah.

Like I said the car is running and it sounds fine except for a slight metal on metal sound when you give it some gas. I know I open the butterfly on the throttle body and it is nasty lookiing inside. I told him that having the engine rebuilt might have to happen or he can swap it with a V-tec engine or another LS..I was just hoping I could save him some money he is young and dosen't have a lot of cash but I will talk to him about reporting it to his insurance. I told him to file a claim with base when it happened because he was on base following a detour they set up due to heavy rain but don't think they'll go for it. Just wonder if ti would be cheaper to rebuild it or just throw in another one...

I'd go for a motor swap.

I agree with ya Rich but it's not my money but if it is just going to be nothing but trouble then it should come out. So then I have another question is there any where on island to get a 1994-2000 Integra LS engine(1.8L DOHC non-V-tec) I am only asking for a Non V-tec because they are cheaper...Found some on Ebay under $900.00 but I am sure shipping will be killer...
