I can't afford to get my car back from Subaru.
I didn't realize how insanly expensive it was going to be.
So....
I don't know what to do.
I'm leaving february for New York. I still need to:
sell volvo
get my car back
move all my stuff
go to court
drive across the country in something...
And I don't have the funds... shtick...
anyone know where I can ***** out my automotive talents for some bank?
So....
I don't know what to do.

Well I had the new head, cam, gear, timing belt, tensioner and everything. However, I was supposed to be at sea until Feb 12th. I am trying to sell the volvo and with my busy schedule I couldn't see myself having time to pull the motor to change the head. So I gave it to Subaru. Service said they'd cut me a great deal on labor so I figured that it couldn't be too much to pull a motor and change the head gaskets. Especially when I had already paid for all the parts except the head gaskets and intake manifold gaskets. Well I guess I was wrong. There must have been a lot more parts that were needed. I know it needed an idler for the timing belt, but I couldn't think of anything else.
However, the bill is currently over 2000 bucks. I haven't reviewed it yet and they said they would "help" me out some. Hopefully they'll help me out a lot.

Ouch.
When I was writing at Servoc, R&R'ing the motor on a V8 Lexus = 24.5 hours book time @ $78/hr = $1911 just in labor.
Doing any headwork was ON TOP of that figure.
Scoobies are much easier, however it's never cheap to get a dealer to do stuff for ya. They're GOOD, not cheap.
Didn't they give you a quote first?!?!

just to clarify,
I'm sure some of the cost is a misunderstanding.
I'm not mad at the subaru guys
I'm just mad at myself for letting this bill occur.
I should have done it myself, but I didn't have the time
I thought it was going to be under a 1000 bucks and I was very wrong.
I have NO money now. I don't know what happened, but my accounts are completely drained. I'd have to get a loan to pay for this.

Well Braun was really cool and knocked it down to 1300.
Pretty much dropped most of the labor.
He's always been real cool.
I didn't take into consideration the proper price for the required gasket kit. Also, they didn't use my 130 dollar timing belt tensioner. They charged me for a new one. So I get to take that one back if I can find the reciept.
Overall, that's way better and I'm much happier.
However, I still don't have the funds right now. It'll be a few days.
