HPD arresting for speeding?

i heard on the news that HPD is really cracking down on speeders...they passed this one thing where they're just gonna arrest you on the spot for speeding....and you could get jail time from 30days to 2months....

damn....makes me paranoid going over speed limit....

Speeding has been an arrestable offense for a long time. It's been up to the judgement of the officer for years.

but the news said that they passed a bill (or something like that) for HPD to arrest speeders on the spot....no ticket, they'll just slap on the hand-cuffs

for any wreckless driving you could always be arrested. now if they find you speeding with other people or random people near you (not racing) they can arrest you for endangering their lives. just alittle more easier to arrest you now.

True, wreckless drivers should be arrested for stupidity.

You know, this oddly reminds me of when those speedvans were around before, taking pics of speeders. One van tagged another speedvan. Thought that was funny.

beware of public pressure

apparantly because of the public pressure hpd will be more strict. and from what i gather, the plan is to make excessive speeding or racing an actual criminal charge which means it will never leave your record. unlike conventional speeding which erases from your record within 3 years.

You old timers remember Roy from Midnight Racing? I believe he was one of the first guys ever to get arrested for speeding.

I talked to a couple of my cop friends around the time that happened (must have been 3-4 years ago, or even longer) and they said speeding has always been an arrestable offense being up to the discretion of the officer.

just spoke to my buddy in hpd. basically if u speeding by itself cannot get u arrested. in order to get arrested the cop will have to make a case for reckless driving(or some endangerment to other drivers/people). the cop will have to explain in his report(cars on road-how many) what speed was involved etc. now if you are going 25-35 over in a residential area @ 2 o clock in the afternoon obviously u can expect to be arrested esp. if there are kids on the street. basically u have to present a serious amount of danger to other people on the road in order to make a case for arrest.

whats kind of scary is that it may be possible for "conventional"(if there is a such thing) speeders to get arrested if that new law passes.

*on a funny note- went to court on mon and heard this term "you will also pay 25 for the neurotrauma fund" someone please explain that!

In California, if you double the speed limit the speeding becomes a felony and you will most likely get arrested.
And WTH is the "neurotrauma fund"?!
