If you notice the rake of the side graphics, they swoop upwards toward the rear. This signifies that they in fact do assist in downforce from the sides of the car, aiding stability during lateral maneuvers.
This particular graphics scheme is growing in popularity among the AWD drifter crowd as manufacturers for side wings are at a minimum if at all existent. The gold color depicts that they are in fact, JDM graphics. The maximum-sized STi on the rear quarter panels stand for: Sideways Touge Invention.
This is in actuality a special edition indeed not available anywhere else in the world and at just over $41K is a steal. I would jump on it. No....literally.
