I know there aren't any NASCAR fans in here, but from the aspect of going and seeing for yourself, it is an awesome spectacle. The amount of power these cars are making and the engineering of keeping a heavy car planted through the canted turns, the strategy of the pitstops and tire maintenance, the gross adulation of 80k rednecks (I can say that, because I resemble one.
)
All I'm saying is that Rally racing and F1 are obviously awesome sporting events and the drivers really are awesome athletes, but NASCAR really suffers due to the connotation of it. The drivers really are world class as are the cars and the pit crews.
It isn't even near my favorite auto sport. Mine are GT type stuff, Rally, NASCAR road courses, then drag, then NASCAR oval.

I've decided that I'm going to try and go to one a year. We've got a NBS at Indianapolis Raceway Park, and we've got the Brickyard in Speedway, IN.
That and I want to go to a real NHRA sometime, too.
