HKS or Blitz Exhaust System?

Be careful if you go catless though: an observant cop might be able to smell a lack of cats (it stinks pretty bad).
k_icarus, What do you want? The "sound"?? If that's the case, disregard everything I just said.

I like the sound of the Blitz, but didn't imagine that people thought of it as being too loud. Then again, i never rode or drove in a WRX with a Blitz exhaust. i'll prolly go with the Blitz axel back and up pipe down pipe combo. I still have lots to learn bout performance parts for my car.

Nolimit -- good point on doing uppipe and downpipe first. I guess since I'm in California, I'm a little paranoid about emissions haha; that's why I suggested the catback first (I guess for aesthetics and minor performance).
k icarus -- lean conditions are what results when the air-fuel mixture in your engine has more air than fuel. The result is perceived power gains and/or better response, but there is inherent danger in not getting enough fuel to the engine IIRC. In contrast, rich conditions are the opposite: more fuel than air, which results in poorer mileage and a some fuel leaving the engine not burned off. As a result, when your exhaust afterfires (say on a shift or a throttle lift), the escaping hot gases in the pipe ignites this unburnt fuel and throws a fireball out your exahust tip. BTW, the general consensus is that short ram intakes are not really a good idea unless you're either running a front-mount intercooler, an aftermarket turbo, or more than 300 horsepower. My 2 cents is that you should revert back to the stock intake and either sell the AEM or keep it until you've modded enough to need it.

Ok,
let me jump in here about the intake. I had the AEM, still do (in the shed) and it never made my car run lean, without engine management. How do I know? I have a wideband O2. I now have the APS intake (long story) and it doesn't make me run lean either, although I do have engine management now. If someone has an intake and an O2 and they KNOW it made them run lean, I'll listen. But honestly, a lot of people on this forum and others seem "know" intakes make you lean without any evidence. The other pint I want to make is that those of us with FMICs (and the number seems to be growing) can't use the stock intake. So no matter how good it is, it doesn't pertain to us.
