hi chris, i think i know which trail you are talking about (jeep trail). i've been there and seen some homeless peeps. so far, no runnings with them(yet) and they are pretty cool about it as long as you respect their "home".
but this trail that we are going into is the new paved and marked parking stalls. we will be going to the main paved trail and then diverting to the unpaved trail halfway to the top. this is the one by the whale watching area. there are no homeless people that i've seen in this area as it is very remote and hard to get into.
Awww these hikes seem like so much fun! If I wasn't sun-sensitive, I'd totally be there.
Take lots of pictures guys! I want to see what I'm missin out on

we can fix that with an umbrella, sunblock, longsleeves, hats, visors, and shades...other than that, (with the exception of this current hike) most of our hikes are in thick rainforests...watch out for upcoming hikes...Tantalus and Hawaii Loa ridge.

sorry jess...when are you actually coming back? don't worry, our next hikes are gonna be fun-er! hey, when are we gonna do the kolekole pass thing???
so if you say "sun sensitive", do you mean like you don't want to get a tan or you are just really photosensitive?

Wow Tiff! You're not the only one that's sun-sensitive. I can get sunburn even when I'm in the shade.
BTW did you get my message? I guess we'll see you at the meet for payment.

I have sensetive skin as well and get burnt like a tone challenged person without a shirt but I try to over come it by going in the sun for short periods of time and slowly increasing the time to build up a resistance. Oh. SPF 70 is my friend. A hat helps as well.

i've been to kolekole road where the military base it at with those towering 1500 foot antenna's are. i think that is down by lualualei valley in waianae...but i haven't been to the actual kolekole pass to schofield.
