HI-O.T. Anyone work in Auto insurance?
I know this has been covered many times. I am with USAA, like many of you. I have called around in the past, but nobody could match my rates, and customer service is excellent, no complaints. Liberty Mutual came close. I have tried quotes from State farm, AIG, Island, Geico, Progressive, the usual suspects. I have heard some of the mainland companies are good, like Travelers is really cheap. Can anyone confirm what insurance carriers operate here?
Thanks.
To compare rates, i pay $1700/6 months for 3 cars. A wrx, legacy, and yaris.
I have an accident on my record, which raised my rates $200/ 6 months, but at last policy, it went down to $155/ 6 months.
So I've been paying $1800/6 months, but with the discounts it comes to about $1686/6 months.
Thanks.

I don't know if this will benefit you but, back in 2007 I paid $570/6mo for my 2002 WRX with 2 tickets and one accident on record. Heck, I don't even think my insurance company found out at all about the tickets. My age is 24 so I haven't even hit the magical 25 yet.
I think your rate is quite decent if that came with full coverage.

Another thing to keep in mind is not only the price too, but how the insurance company handles the customer once the claim has been filed. Feedback from friends and family is very important too. Look for things that are important to you and your needs. For example, How many of you guys know if your insurance company covers after market parts? Not all insurance companies do, and some you even need to pay extra. This info comes in handy, when you weigh out the price for your premium vs. what you're covered for. I'd hate to see one of you guys roll up to the shop and have to be the one to break it to you that your $3000 set of Volks will not be covered. Just know what you're getting and what you're paying for.

Cool. If i can think of anything, I'll lyk.
Yeah, generally above 25 y/o you are not considered "high risk" by both the rental car companies and insurance. I, however have had no real luck finding cheap auto rates, and have been driving for over 17 years. But atleast I've always gotten great customer service.

In my experience dealing with USAA, they may charge you say $130/mo for one car, but when you have multiple, they try to get it down to $100 per vehicle. I know that's what they did when i added another car, and then a third. I'm not sure how they calculate the multiple car discount, but it seems to be about $100/mo per each add'l vehicle.

Chris, I am with USAA also. Do you have a bank account or anything other service setup with them? I have a bank account and credit card with them and they give discounts based on other services you have with them. From what I am calculating, you are paying about 93/month per car.
When I had the WRX, through USAA I was paying about $135 per month. Before I moved to Seattle, I had setup a bank account and cc through them. I am paying $92 per month for the IS.
Here's a funny story, when I was working at part time as a computer tech. I had fixed a customer's computer, and when he came to pick it up, we were talking for a bit. He's said he was an insurance agent for AIG, and said he could probably get me better auto insurance rates than what I had currently. So from there he asked who I was with. My reply "I am with USAA.", his reply "Ohh.....". From there he told me that USAA is one of ones he can't beat, rates and service level. He was quite honest about it too. Sorry, I just wanted to share that story. His reaction and facial expression still sits in my mind.
As far as shopping around, I have done research and got quotes, and nothing comes close to USAA. The story above is a reminder to me.
